Panthera’s mission is to ensure the future of wild cats through scientific leadership and global conservation action. The non-profit’s dedicated staff seek a future in which the world’s 36 wild cat species have the ongoing protection necessary to persist and thrive in the wild. FreeAssociation was engaged by agency Stellarhead to refresh the organization’s Brand Identity and deliver comprehensive UX and Visual Design for the new Panthera web platform.

As Identity lead, FA worked with an inter-agency team and members of the Panthera staff to articulate an identity that was concise, but powerful. We worked through many revisions, carefully choosing words that would convey the importance of the organization’s mission and inform all future brand work.
A core organizational vision eventually surfaced. This vision sees rebounding endangered wild cat populations, critical habitats and core populations connected by genetic and biological corridors, and a global commitment to protect these iconic species into the distant future.
FA provided System and Visual Design services to yield a usable, action-oriented web platform for the organization. Informed by the personas and user scenarios we created, we designed a system that catalyzes important user action while accommodating a diverse audience with a broad, rich content offering.
The site is architected to break content-rich pages into digestible sections that move naturally from important and actionable data, to specifics, to jumping-off points from which to dive deeper into scientific facts or related initiatives.
